The Bengshankeng trails (崩山坑古道) led us through wonderfully lush shaded forests

We followed this stream for parts of the 10KM hike

The end of the trail is at this temple where there is a cheap delicious restaurant

While waiting for the bus, we had a wander and came upon this group of caterpillars

The trail at Shizaitoushan
Finally made it to Shizaitoushan (獅仔頭山) in Xindian (新店) after all this time. It's been on my list for ages. It's in a hard to reach place so three of us went on scooters to search it out. It was a quick hike, about 1.5 hours, return. It has fun, steepish ladders to climb! On our way down the mountain, we ran into an injured cobra. Exciting! We used a stick to encourage it to get off the road. I hope it is able to survive its injuries.
