The Taipei Grand Hike: Section 2

Twelve of us set off to complete the second section of the Taipei Grand Hike (台北大縱走) which starts on Yangming Mountain. (陽明山) We opted to do the first part of this section backwards by starting at the main peak of Datun Mountain (大屯山) and ending at Erziping. (二子坪)

Coming down a slippery, muddy decent on the second peak (there are three) I somehow managed to sprain my knee. I completed the hike at Erziping and had to call it quits. I was hobbling at this point. Half of the group stopped with me while the remaining hikers continued on to finish the section. I was able to collect the three stamps along this route which are "大", "縱" and "走". I'm currently deciding if I need to go back and complete the route. I suppose I could attach the remaining part of section two with section three though that may make for a very long day hike.

The summer heat has arrived and I still have another week or two (at least) for this knee injury to fully heal. Going to physiotherapy every day has helped a lot. The remaining sections of the Grand Hike will most likely have to wait until fall. We have until the end of 2021 to complete the entire route, so no rush!
