Taiwan's National Clean Up Day
I volunteered to lead a hike again this year for Taiwan's National Clean Up Day, organized by Taiwan Adventure Outings. (TAO)

We went to the same location as last year, the Pingxi Bat Caves. These trails are seldomly used and they were quite overgrown. We (and by we I mean me since I was the one leading the group) lost the trail once or twice. We did make it to the lower bat cave but took a miss of the upper bat cave as it's not as accessible. The amount of lanterns in the area was a lot less than last year. Either the locals are doing a great job of regularly cleaning up or the lanterns aren't blowing in that direction anymore.

Next year, I will scout out a different location where we can put all of the very generous volunteers (there were about twenty of us) to better use! It was a very fun day out with a great group! Smiles all around!

Less fallen lanterns on the Bat Cave trails this year but we pulled out everything within reach

At the Lingjiao Waterfall (嶺腳瀑布) in Pingxi for a cool off after a hot clean up

No waterfall swim would be complete without a can of 台灣啤酒
